A Company That Cares About Its Employees!
Pros
Having formerly commuted to Westchester and Fairfield County, CT for many years, I was thrilled to find employment with a local company that offers an outstanding work/life balance, great benefits, fair compensation, and management that truly listens to their employees. There's a reason why this is the second time LBM Advantage applied for and won Best Companies to Work for in New York". Working for a non-profit, one might expect that benefits would be slim, however; since joining the company less than two years ago, I've seen employees enjoy multiple random bonuses during business highs, new policies that allow for a weekly work-from-home day, the addition of floating holidays, free monthly lunches when we beat our budget, extra dress down days (Friday dress-down is already in place), Employee Appreciation Week (yes, you read correctly - it's week, not day!), lovely holiday parties complete with prize giveaways, and social outings that allow for the attendance of family members. As a manager, I've also had the benefit of twice-yearly leadership training that has allowed to me develop professionally and I am told when I do a good job. It's the first time in my career that I truly feel appreciated! To top it all off, you get to work with a genuinely nice group of people. Staff at Advantage would truly give you the shirts off their backs as would the executives and employees from our member organizations. Working for one of the nation's largest member-owned lumber and building cooperatives, it's gratifying to know that you are working towards the common goal of keeping independently owned lumberyards and home centers in business so that they can continue building communities.
Cons
Some technology could be updated, but there is an acknowledgment of this and steps are being taken.
