      Pros

      Most of the employees are cool people with diverse hobbies and interests, so making friends at work can be easy. A few managers actually care about their employees and growing them as professionals. Good environment for go-getters, and self-starters.

      Cons

      Most of the money just goes to investment shareholders or acquiring new businesses instead of investing in the company foundations and its employees. The executives rather lay people off than take a pay cut (so one can demo a historic mansion on a seaside cliff and build a new one). Managers are aloof, or rage cases. Everything is urgent...until it's not. Skeleton Crews Burnout, burnout, burnout. "That's how we've always done it"

      Constant Change and no Direction

      Pros

      The folks within my team were very good and we were very proficient at what we did. We had supported each other and achieved our goals.

      Cons

      There was such a disconnect between senior management and the day-to-day work we did. We never knew what we were working towards. We rolled through heads of our business unit every year and things just got bogged down with powerpoints and analysis. Never a focus on customers. It's sad to because the head of the company (Euan) came out of my Standards division, having run the business for a time. It seems like it was a good company that just had no leadership and direction.
