Corporate ethos doesn't make it to local level

Pros

Corporate parent company (LHCGroup) seems to genuinely care. Regular encouraging updates from administration. Good 401K and health insurance. Great resources online for further learning.

Cons

Little from corporate trickles down to the individual companies they have bought out. While the employee handbook outlines generous PTO time and regular performance reviews, we have none of that. In my workplace, we 1) never get a raise, 2) never get more than 3-4 PTO days off a year, and 3) never get any positive feedback or encouragement.

Pros

Staff is excellent. The orientation training is one of the best I have ever done. The salary is competitive for the area. The company lives up to it's mission and vision statement which is so refreshing!

Cons

At this time I have not experienced any cons.

Pros

I have been given the opportunity to do what I was trained to do as a nurse, and why I got into nursing. To help people, make a difference in their lives, and feel needed and appreciated in return. The reduction in stress as opposed to working in a nursing home has been amazing.I realized today that I have not felt this relieved since I became debt free 10 years ago. All of the staff which I have encountered so far have been very kind and supportive. I hope to be doing this job till I retire.

Cons

It is just the nature of private duty to have some drawbacks.Hours can't be guaranteed,so it is best to save your money for an occasional rainy day. For me though this gives an extra incentive to do your job well and keep your patient out of the hospital. Also, if you are a person who requires a lot of feedback and supervision you won't get as much as you might be used to. For me this is not an issue as I have been a nurse for many years. For me it is a very welcome change.
