      Pros

      Decently good benefits. Good people. They have fun events for staff 3-4 times a year, and birthday cookies. They pay overtime for engineer in training staff or below. Which, outside of Houston isn't too normal.

      Cons

      Horizontal movement is like pulling teeth. A "face-time" culture, where it's more important to be seen then to be productive - not that people aren't productive. Cliquey amongst younger staff. High turnover in some groups.

      Pros

      Enjoyed working with the people. They were nice people to work with. There was always work for me and when there was layoffs they kept me employed.

      Cons

      Like any other company they had to lay people off during hard times.

      Thank you for your review. LJA Engineering is growing and 2015 was a record year for the company. While we did experience a downturn more than 7 years ago, in 2015 we opened new office locations and are on track to continue growing in the upcoming year. We remain one of Texas’ largest employee-owned civil engineering firms.
