      Pros

      People were the best reason to work there. They were the best.

      Cons

      Bad internal departmental communication. It was like pulling teeth to get anything from any other departments. Very little feedback from middle management about job performance and how to make it better. Per diem allowance makes it very difficult to feed oneself even eating at McDonalds in Europe and Asia. Days off without pay in a downturn minimized ones merit increases and profit sharing. Taking forced time off made it difficult to juggle planned vacations with ones family

      Pros

      Great growth opportunities and recognition if you have the right manager. During an interview, make sure you 'select' a manager you can respect and who is well respected, you click with, and you are golden.

      Cons

      The other extreme - if you have an insensitive manager who doesn't get-it or care, it can be the worst place to work. That by itself is not unique to Lam. What one needs to be aware of is that it is very hit or miss with managers/leaders here. You can get extremely amazing ones that lead and inspire, and extremely horrible ones that berate, micromanage, and are totally out for themselves. Fortunately most key sr leadership positions are great. The competence is generally high but expect your experience to be very hit or miss.

      Solid Company, but crazy security

      Pros

      Solid company the financials are good and have good profit margins. They have a good position in their products in the market that they are in. They have good employee benefits, i.e. a rich health care insurance coverage, good vision coverage, great dental, and 401k plan, they have a nice bonus program as well.

      Cons

      Small company compared to largest competitor. One bad misstep or one loss of major customer would ruin this company. CEO and senior management is crazy scared about security. Some of the senior managment seems isolated from the rest of the company and out of touch with the needs of it's employees.
