Pros

Lamar has incredible teachers and leadership in many schools. Teaching is just hard everywhere right now, but for the most part I do think they are trying to do the right thing for teachers and the community.

Cons

LCISD is under new leadership, whose expectations and goals seem a bit misplaced at times. Teachers frequently complain about being overworked. There seems to be a large disconnect between what's happening in the schools and the expectations of higher leadership.

I love my principal and coworkers. We have great professional development opportunities. I feel like I am respected as a senior teacher. I don't feel like they are a conforming district.

Cons

The only downsides are not related to it being Lamar CISD. Teaching as a profession has gotten so politically correct and the amount of paperwork that is involved just to be filed away is insane. I also miss the days when parents respected teachers' opinions and didn't try and bad mouth the teacher at every low grade.
