Pros

Cafeteria onsite is good for a reason. Only like 3 places to eat lunch in Dodgeville outside Hardees and Country Kitchen.

Cons

The IT organization is basically a fire department with no prevention. Management doesn't care about ideas that are not their own. My first day I was bombarded with warnings about the manager and senior manager being terrible leaders. They act like they want to hire top talent but they make all decisions within the leadership team and don't heed advice or ideas from individual contributors. I had high hopes, they do a good job of selling the culture but IT does not operate like the rest of the organization.

Pros

There’s always something positive to be found in every negative. Lands’ End has built a fair brand outside of the long relationship with Sears. When people asked who I worked for or what I did I was always welcomed with a warm response whenever I mentioned Lands’ End.

Cons

No matter how desperate you are for a job, or how annoyed you may be at your current gig, there are some companies you’re better off not working for and Lands’ End is one of them. With the number of CEOs they’ve gone through in the past 6 years along with the split from Sears in 2014, they still don’t know who they want to be when they grow up. Remember, even if the money is good on paper, they are the lowest paying apparel company in the industry, they will make the role seem enticing and possibly irresistible with the promise of uncapped commission which you’ll never see because they have a track record of successful law suits over unpaid wages, or if your friends say it’s worth a shot because it’s Lands’ End, accepting a role at a crappy company like Lands’ End Business can and will set your career back and even jeopardize your future success. Save yourself the time and despair by saying “thanks but no thanks” to the illusion of fair pay and a perceived road to success from this company.

Pros

Remote position flexibility, sample clothes. 50% Employee discount of clothing for you and your family (great if you have growing kids).

Cons

Mid Tier, Outside/Field, National Account Sales Reps BEWARE!!! This role may sound appealing, however is treated less than an entry level B2B sales role with little to no commissions ever seen. Upper management is all about old school and unattainable metrics with dials and cold calls. Inside sales (aka everyone in Dodgeville, WI) on EVERY level will get ALL of the revenue after your efforts and long sales cycles are complete, leaving you (the “hunter”) empty handed. Apparel and mentality of this organization is an outdated patriarchy, with zero updated real world sales tools, technology and/or leadership. The warm friendly feel of an old fashion “wholesome” company is an intricate smoke and mirrors routine, at best!
