Pros

Summary: Nice peers (usually). Decent/flexible hours (depends what you do). Good benefits. They'll even move you around if necessary from department to department until you fit in somewhere instead of canning you. It's usually pretty relaxed with a few exceptions. It's also pretty family friendly. They also offer company-sponsored groups and events throughout the year, usually initiated by employees. The great thing is that they have a knack for hiring nice people who you wouldn't mind hanging out with after hours. Whether or not you can work with them professionally is another matter... The location isn't bad either. Not in a shady part of Long Beach, but not super industrialized, either. Easy access to the 405, places to eat or hangout after hours is available. Medical/Vision/Dental/Life insurance is also available. 401k plan matching varies from year to year, but is supposedly above industry/corporate standard (I never bothered to check). Free lunches are available, but some days are better than others. In terms of time off, there aren't many holidays, but you do get vacation time--the amount growing along with your years at the company. Lastly, they tend to hold on to people and shuffle them to other departments or responsibilities in the hopes that they'll find something that works for everyone involved, which is nice. They're usually also pretty open to you learning new things, even if you don't get the chance to apply it.

Cons

Summary: Lack of professionalism and knowledge from majority of management (and occasionally peers). Creativity and innovation are stifled by mediocrity. Can't move up. Strong slant toward technical/engineering group to the detriment of others. If you're just out of school and need a stepping stone to a real future, this is your place. It's a good learning environment, if not always a supportive one, so you need to be able to deal with a set-up-to-fail situation right from the get-go. If you're lucky enough to be on a great team, your experience will be different from others who didn't have it so good. If you just want a paycheck and don't care you're not necessarily paid to think (and only do what you're told), this is your place. Volunteering to do things may bring you more pain than it's worth. Additionally, great and/or innovative ideas tend to be put down or modified enough that it's unrecognizable and lackluster to be approved by management. Change is slow, if it happens at all (or is pushed along by either family members or selected "favorites"). There also tends to be two groups of people: those who get by doing the minimal (or getting others to do it for them), or the others who do the work--and then some. There's really only two levels: management and grunts. Even within departments where there is some manner of vertical climbing, you only really matter if you're a manager of some sort. Which is depressing in it's own right. Additionally, since management favors technical smarts above anything else, other departments are essentially treated like red-headed stepchildren. If you're in engineering, or there in a technical capacity, you've got it made (you'll see this in other reviews)--just keep management happy. Otherwise, it's difficult to make much of an impact without playing politics on some level.

Pros

You have the ability to build yourself professionally if you somehow get on the right side of management.

Cons

Don't bother considering the 100% match for the 401K plan. Chances are extremely high that you won't stick around for the 5 years you must wait for this to kick in. Upper management has zero respect for the account management/sales team. It is common to be talked down on and to be singled out by the CEO in the middle of a company-wide meeting for something she did not like. Employees are always being watched and there is a high level of distrust. Some people drink the kool-aid and buy into the fanaticism but these are also the people whose self-esteem has been beaten down. Unless you SOMEHOW get on the good side of upper management (which is a close-knit family), it is a toxic place to work.
