Pros

You meet some odd people in this industry, but some of them are genuine, hard-working individuals and a joy to be around. There is room for advancement, if you're willing to bust your hump, take on additional work, pull long hours, and get incredibly lucky.

Cons

Unfortunately that doesn't mean much when the company is constantly eroding your benefits, paying you far below industry standard, bullying you about overtime pay, and laying off employees regularly in order to meet the bottom line. This is a corporate culture where the people who produce are dumped on, while excuses are made for the lazy. Anyone with actual talent is desperate to escape. Everyone else weathers the storm, knowing that the buddy system will keep them high and dry. Most of the front-line staff are overworked, fearful of losing their jobs, and constantly stymied by dysfunctional micromanagement.

Pros

Salary and benefits aren't terrible. Co-workers are a smart, fun, hard-working group. Computers and software are up to date. Gallows humor helps numb the pain.

Cons

Designers are micromanaged and treated like children. We were forced to record what we were working on at all times via a computer program called Harvest. A "points system" was also instituted recently. Every page a designer completed was worth 25 points. We had to earn a certain number of points everyday or we were scolded. It doesn't matter how the pages looked. Quality means nothing at Lee. Morale was low. Virtually everyone was looking for new jobs.

Pros

It's a job. Some of the people you work with are wonderful, but don't get used to them being there for long.

Cons

Long hours, little vacation time, low wages, everyone seemed afraid, unhappy, oppressed. Witnessed monthly firings, usually without warning.
