Pros

Up until January 2023: Great workplace culture built on a foundation of empathy, inclusivity, and energy. Amazing Benefits Realistic monthly goals built by awesome, data-driven leaders Continuous Agent Development and opportunities for mentorship

Cons

NOTE: READ THIS FIRST - Entire Sales department got let go as of 10/11/23. This is not a company you can work for long term anymore. Rest of the cons: Everything after January 2023 Seriously, aside from the benefits all good aspects of this company went out the window since Dan Wernikoff and Rich Preece took over AND the company decided to go public. Aggressively advertising "freemium/premium", layoffs of key leadership positions and outsourcing outsourcing of customer care functions to contractors with no plan for communication or cohesion with in-house staff, -- all transparent attempts to salvage a rapidly falling stock price. (Note: Share price for LZ was $40 in 2021, now it's at $10.) What minimal communication there was between C-team and rest of company was filled with empty buzzwords and sense of stability or forward momentum.

Pros

There used to be…. But now almost none. Except good health insurance and employer match on 401k.

Cons

Legalzoom used to be the greatest company ever to work for. We had a good culture, and our mission was to make dreams happen for our customers. Pay was consistent, and you could make great money close to six figures or more if you applied yourself. Around Dec 2019 our former CEO exited the company. All I can say is that he is missed. We got a greedy, and lying CEO from Intuit who brought all of his cronies in. At first they seemed sincere in fixing the problems within Legalzoom and the sales org. We had wool pulled over our eyes. I could go so many directions in this review but I will stick to changes in sales the past year: -Busted back base salary for veteran reps sometimes in a range of 2k to 6k or possibly more. -A change from salary pay plus commission which was great to hourly plus commission. -Inflated goals that are almost impossible to hit for your commission or target earnings (OTE) each month which is a measly 2300 dollars per month. -No pay on percentage of revenue earned. You get a fixed OTE of 2300 plus confusing accelerators with goals that make no sense one month it can be 80k or the next 50k but no change in OTE. -Endless customer care and retention calls that impact conversion… which they unfairly use as an accelerator. You have to get 20 percent conversion on all your calls but most are not sales opportunities. -Cheesy script based selling with a program called Griffin Hill which makes you sound like a robot and corny so customers think you are an idiot. -Lastly, they call it “skills-based routing” where if you sell one package such as an estate plan bundle or patent then they will route you those calls in your sales queue. The last point sounds nice except it leads to favoritism because the algorithm is really good at favoring people in the morning so if you get a big biz or intellectual property package… then you get fed these calls all day as a rep. The morning people and certain reps inherently seem to have a huge revenue advantage every day that is noticeable. It hurts morale. But if you have read this so far and considering working here you must understand they care only about : $ and ripping off customers. Speaking of the customers, 4 hr hold times are routine on Monday and Tuesday for customer care. Once this company gets their money customers are discarded like garbage. Just like I was. To explain, I gave six years of my corporate life to this company. I was repeatedly denied promotions, interviews, and it was clear to me early on I would be a phone sales rep forever. I was also repeatedly a high performer, employee of the month, #1, #3 on the floor etc., etc. For a while the money was great and I was willing to trade my professional happiness for a comfortable life. If I had continued throughout this whole year my compensation would have been 20k less than last year’s W2 despite the fact I brought in as much if not more revenue for the company. How does that make sense? Well it does in corporate America because these days profits increasingly flow to the top. Here the C-Suite is so greedy, you are lucky if you get crumbs from the table. This is despite record-breaking profits they always brag about. If you value your mental health, want to feel valued in a job and where you have a voice: RUN. All the positive reviews are for the most part fake. Read the negative ones they tell the truth. Everyone who made this company awesome years ago is jumping ship. I will finally say despite all the time I put in to this organization, I was let go without cause. No exit interview, no HR present, and they won’t call me. This company has no soul, humanity or culture. Don’t do it.

Pros

Nice amenities and flexible hours, which makes it easy for a work-life balance. Fun events many times during the year.

Cons

- Salary not even making market rate - Senior tech leadership doesn't care but anything but meeting the bottom line and pleasing the board - Tech teams are overworked to meet unrealistic deadlines - No one wants to fix existing issues impacting internal teams and customers - Ticket support system is a joke - People that been around a long time, but do a bad job seem to always get promoted - Salary raises are a joke
