Underpaid and Long Hours Expected

Pros

Typical pros for a large company like having structured policies and reasonable stability

Cons

The corporate culture here equates long hours with loyalty. Even though it is against Labor Laws, people here are labeled "salaried" employees when they do not meet the legal description. This company has been fined before for such practices, but the same culture and expectations continue. Management expects that you work any amount of overtime necessary to complete the job. If you do not, then it is reflected in your evaluations that you "do not commit the time necessary" to complete your tasks. More responsibilities are given to employees without any additional compensation. I left this company because I was being paid below market while working long hours. Made a lateral move making 20% increase in salary with reasonable hours.

Dysfunctional Company Going Nowhere Fast

Pros

Part of large publicly traded homebuilder, Lennar, with significant brand recognition that may or may not be an advantage in commercial real estate. The company is fairly entrepreneurial for its size even though it is plagued by all the bureaucracy that comes with any large organization.

Cons

Lennar Commercial (LC) is the commercial real estate division of Lennar Homes. LC lacks any strategic direction whereby all the failings to develop leadership, organization, strategy, resources, and capability are placed squarely on the employee to overcome, no matter what the circumstances or how ridiculous the objective is. Without any strategic vision or coherent organization, Lennar Commercial is a directionless, frenetic place reflecting the personalities of the leadership. Without a mission, shared values, or common goals to guide the team, the leadership is dictatorial, mercurial, impatient, and capricious. Despite what could be overwhelming financial, brand, and synergistic resources provided by the parent company, Lennar Commercial lacks any strategy or vision to deploy such resources in any effective way or to position itself in a manner that would differentiate itself from its competitors.
