Pros

The problem space is challenging with extremely high operational headwinds.

Cons

If you're even remotely considering joining Lessen, PLEASE READ THIS FIRST. I urge you to reconsider and run in the opposite direction as fast as you can. This company is an absolute train wreck, and getting involved with them is essentially signing up for a one-way ticket to utter bewilderment. First and foremost, let's talk about the so-called "leadership" at Lessen. The CEO is the epitome of cluelessness. This person couldn't lead a successful team even if their life depended on it. Their complete lack of vision and ability to steer the company in a coherent direction is nothing short of astonishing. The CEO spends more time making empty promises and spewing corporate jargon than actually addressing the real issues facing the company. It's no wonder the entire organization is in shambles. They're more interested in attending fancy conferences and posing for photo ops than understanding the intricacies of their own business. (See their LinkedIn, it’s all they have.) (See the Google reviews of their corporate office as the truth is there.) Speaking of business practices, Lessen should be called out for what it truly is—a company built on deceit and unethical behavior. They have mastered the art of cheating their vendors. Cut corners and deliver subpar service—that seems to be their motto. Their contracts are filled with hidden clauses designed to screw over any service provider naive enough to sign on the dotted line. Honesty and integrity are foreign concepts here. If you value your time, money, and sanity, steer clear of any dealings with Lessen. As if the incompetent leadership and unethical practices weren't bad enough, the internal culture at Lessen is absolutely toxic. The product team operates as a boys' club, where cronyism and favoritism run rampant. It's a disgusting fraternity atmosphere where only those who schmooze with the right clique make it ahead. Don't even think about voicing a different opinion or, heaven forbid, being a woman trying to break in—you're in for a rude awakening. Meritocracy is a joke here; it's all about who you know and how well you can play the political game. People working here are overworked, undervalued, and micromanaged to death. Employee turnover is through the roof, and for good reason. They have conducted no less than 5 rounds of layoffs since late 2022. The company's approach to work-life balance is to eliminate the "life" part altogether. The only thing you'll gain from working at Lessen is stress, demoralization, and a deep resentment for wasted potential. If you decide to join Lessen after reading this, you are either extremely desperate (ask yourself why), or you don’t care about your career at all.

Pros

-Salary has gotten better. -Open PTO. -Prudential is nice.

Cons

-The amount of work given to the individual team members is outrageous. But even if you raise our voice to try to protect your team from unfair workload, no one listens. The director and VP just got with the flow of squeezing every ounce of work even if that means no breaks in between calls, then so be it. Our teams can barely make a living and they can't get a fair shake at a balanced workload? That's stressful for the SRMs too since we have to put on a good face and go with their plan when we've been in those roles before and know its not feasible and its a setup for failure. This may not be a real tech company but we're also supposed to treat people much more fair than we have. -Another thing is the lack of professionalism across the leadership team in residential and rehabs. It's not easy doing your job when the people leading you don't deserve to be in their roles and consistently make you uncomfortable. Shouldn't there be educational qualifiers for managers and directors and VPs? Even with certain managers having inappropriate reputations, they are still promoted to directors. Is it appropriate for the director of your department to continuously ask subordinates out even when previous requests have been denied? If we get these requests over and over without fear of consequence, they know they are protected. -The last thing, these new initiatives are just poor decisions. We just need to stop trying to be a type of company we're not and focus in the area we've been in because we barely do that correctly. Since the merger, we've lost our vision and focus on what's really going on within each department. We're being worked to the ground and then have to deal with ineffective and coercive managerial tactics that teeters the harassment threshold.

Pros

- Lots of Swag and gifts for employees and new hires. - Good Health Insurance Coverage - Lunch Provided twice a week - Great people to work with in other departments

Cons

- Lots of work, not enough people, employment budgets are decided without any input on needs from those actually doing the work. So when you ask to hire more people to help with the growing needs of the team, you are told it's not in the budget. - Other teams make promises that your team will deliver something without talking to your team. - They are more concerned about "making it a place that people want to work" with swag, perks and other cool things than actually taking care of what their employees really need. - Everyone is over worked and under paid.
