I can only speak from my point of view from the LDR position-
Middle management was incommunicative and obviously lacked basic leadership skills. Fear and uncertainty were their primary management style - I logged the interactions that I had with one of them and the last seven times I tried to talk to, provide updates to, ask for help were completely ignored.
Definitely avoid if you're looking for career development (which is typically offered/expected in a BDR position) or taking the traditional path of moving up to a Sales Executive after six months -- you are put in that position to stay there.
In contrast, the other sales directors who were actually sales professionals were positive and encouraging, often saying how well the company and the team was doing. It was refreshing to listen to them in company-wide meetings. There seemed to be a lot of others in different roles that really enjoyed their work and believed in the company mission.
