Pros

decent pay. good benefits. large solid company name with good reputation. they give you time to learn the position and help get you started with licensing

Cons

management is definitely promoted more on a "minority basis" if you are the average white male, good luck at getting promoted or staying there. After your first two years they expect you two write a HUGE amount of policies with the constant thread of losing your job in 6 months if you dont produce. Other insurance companies, you can create a book of business and manage it - at liberty, you are forced to write massive amounts of business after the first two years.

Pros

Compensation package is highly competitive, the salary is likely in the 60-70% quartile industry wide. The vacation time nice, especially once you’ve been there for 3 plus years, when you accrue 4 weeks/year. You are also entitled to carryover up to 20 days/year, which is great. The company does have a solid financial track record and is one of the few major companies headquartered within the greater Boston Region.

Cons

underqualified middle/upper management. There are a lot of people there who have either exceeded their highwater mark (and the company decides not to “performance manage them out…yet) or a high number of underqualified, handpicked people promoted for the sake of showing of their internal rotation programs. Very poorly run field offices which seem to change strategic level initiatives much too frequently. They have also seemed to have made a corporate wide decision to cost cut throughout the claims offices and replace experienced reps with lower salaried, inexperienced recent grads with no experience by simply trying to automate their processes in a non-manufacturing industry, despite trying to minic the process of building a car. They will also then try to grind longer hours and longer days out until it becomes part of the routine, expected day to make up for taking on more staff.

Pros

Flexible work environment. Good branding.

Cons

Lack of real resources. Poor management as demonstrated by scare techniques as opposed to incentive based motivation
