Pros

Training programs, good starting point for a career in insurance.

Cons

Lack of information from management. Management style is mostly through fear and micromangement.

Pros

The resources and training they have available is outstanding. Liberty does a great job with professional development. I feel the pension is a very big plus since most companies have eliminated that. Compensation and benefits are competitive and the 401K and bonus structure is good. The company also does a good job with recognition and pay for preformance. After working for another company, I feel Liberty does a tremendous job with work/life balance and their flex time is definitely a big key to that.

Cons

Business attire all the time, no casual fridays even in summer. I think management could have done a better job with describing their vision for the company and what Liberty wants to be e.g. largest carrier, most diversified, etc.

Liberty used to be a great place to work.

Pros

Liberty Mutual used to be a great place to work up until a few years ago when the CEO decided to place people in their 30's or early 40's, just a few years out of graduate school, into Sr. Management positions. The CEO values a couple of years extra education over decades of experience. They lack many skills necessary to lead the organization such as reasoning and understanding of the business through hands on experience. Few if any have ever managed a large office and dealt with the challenges associated.

Cons

It is all about corporate greed these days. Over the past several years, Liberty has made record profits. Yet, Sr. Management is more concerned about protecting their executive bonus plan vs. the people that helped build this company over the years and decades. Home Office continues to expand and grow while the employee positions in the field continue to get cut in favor of technology that is supposed to make processes more efficient, all while the executives fly around everywhere in their corporate jets. Being a customer for over 20 years, I have never received a premium refund associated with these record profits.
