We just need more pay, but I like the job
Pros
Liberty Science Center has a great volume of staff who are all usually happy to be coming into work. I believe the mission of spreading a love for science just makes it a more pleasant place to work compared to for-profit institutions.
Cons
Compensation for hard-working employees is lacking. For example, the birthday party program at the center has grown into a money-making machine, but the Hospitality Associate employees who run parties get paid the least amount compared to ALL other LSC associates in the building. Birthday party hosts also cannot accept tips on the threat of being fired to do so. They need to review policies to keep people who WANT to work at LSC there! I find that many good employees leave because of a lack of pay or a lack of a corporate ladder to climb (promotions.)
