Pros

none that I can think of

Cons

As a Library Asst you will work your butt off making programs for children, helping in all aspects of the library (front desk, shelving, helping with computers, assisting patrons, etc)- but get paid minimum wage and are treated like your thoughts and opinions don't matter by management. There is a LOT of drama between fellow Library employees, and management facilitates it by allowing the bullies to thrive and take whatever jobs they want from others. They allow patrons to make racist/sexist remarks, stalk you and yell at you at the counter and do nothing about it even after repeated reporting. They run their libraries like a Corporation that doesn't value their employees. It is very hard to move up unless you kiss butt to the horrible management.

Low salary, lots of hours

Pros

Many of my co-workers were very nice but everyone grumbled about the pay.

Cons

Lowest librarian salary in California. 40 hour work week, rare in the librarian world where most full time jobs are 35 to 37 hours.
