This place was a joke to work for. They care more about image and money than their employees. No power cots, everything manual, including paper trips. Higher ups have their nice new cars sitting in the garage but refuse to give raises or get new equipment. Anyone with a pulse gets hired and they never fire anyone.
Would frequently have to take bariatric patients without a lift assist, even after asking for one. They do not care about the safety of their employees. And when you get hurt (not even if, because you WILL get hurt here), they’ll just be annoyed and blame you. Would also have to take bariatric patients without a bari stretcher; shows how much they care about patient care.
Dispatchers will send you to every corner of the city without a care in the world of what your off time is. 99.9% of your calls will be dialysis and wait and return appointments, so say goodbye to everything you learned in EMT class. All emergencies are given to ALS crews so they can keep running you on your back to back dialysis calls without a break. The only break in the monotony is the occasional psych call. This company cannot handle its call volume and dispatchers are told to not refuse calls so you will absolutely get held over your off time more often than not just to do the overload of prescheduled dialysis calls.
Burnout will hit you in a number of weeks, so do yourself and your back a favor and don’t stay here longer than a couple of months. You’ll be lucky to walk away without a back injury (even lifting correctly causes wear and tear!)
