Pros

Good teams make work enjoyable. Interesting work keeps the day to day from becoming too routine. The hours for IT are more reasonable than some environments I have worked in. It's pretty much a 40 hour week or as close as you want to make it.

Cons

Distributed responsibility can lead to some issues with completion of tasks. This is especially true if third parties outside the company are involved. Overall there are very few cons to be discussed at least in my group. The experience will vary by team.

Pros

The people involved in direct patient care and support persons to those caring for patients I.e. pharmacy, Respiratory therapists etc.

Cons

Upper management out of touch with reality patient care. Staffing in areas left with unsafe nurse/patient ratios. People are punished if they are call sick but are also punished if they come to work sick. Which yes no one should come to work sick. Upper management sets their employees up to fail rather than succeed by using unsafe staffing grids thus making a highly stressful job even more stressful. As a result, patient care suffers as well as staff. Upper management gives appearance of being more interested inNUMBERS AND REVENUE than quality care. Families see how short staffed the floors are and complain but upper management just directs more hostility toward staff. Education for new staff is the bare minimum. Not enough specialist doctors that are available 24/7. Upper management REACTIVE INSTEAD OF PROACTIVE. Upper management has bully mentality, they at times are extremely disrespectful to those under them. This does not refer to each unit’s immediate manager. I could go on but in all this for profit organization is all about the dollar and bonuses but not about people. The people being cared for nor for the people who are caring for the people.
