Pros

Working with kids to improve their lives is rewarding.

Cons

Chaotic high level management planning and constant change. Tons of, "sales training" calls that are thinly masked pep meetings led by individuals with little real sales experience. High turnover at all levels. So very much is expected of center staff and very little support is given. Necessary pay cuts were communicated by email on the afternoon of a three day weekend by the assistant to the company CEO.

Pros

Fantastic immediate supervisors and supportive, friendly coworkers. The work can be very rewarding as you witness kids' progress first-hand and get to work with them one-on-one. The company invests a lot of time in training and professional development, and there are opportunities for advancement.

Cons

There is the sense that the overarching company micro-manages individual sites to their detriment, and that it is more interested in making money than in the well-being of its students or workers. The schedule frequently changes unexpectedly and inconsistently, and you are asked to do a lot with a little time. More work tends to be pushed on those who can complete it well than those who can't, so it often feels as if you are doing more (or harder) work than someone else who is being paid he same wage. Health insurance options are provided for full-time workers, but the options are terrible: high deductibles, steep monthly premiums, and zero coverage until the deductible is met.

Pros

-You get the opportunity to do great work for kids who really need the help -Pay is decent (when it’s not cut) for a job where you get to learn about literacy and education without a degree -Other clinicians and consultants really work hard to help you out -The programs work WHEN IMPLEMENTED PROPERLY & the staff gets mentoring -Paid training for 80 hours in 2 of the programs to start -Opportunities to grow, especially if you are willing to move to a new location -Seasonal employees get a hefty bonus for returning each year -Flexible scheduling around college classes or another job

Cons

-Unpredictable schedule as many other reviews have said, schedule does not come out until Friday and then changes throughout the week -Pay was cut just before the holidays in a very cowardly, shady way (see more in advice to management) -Constantly changing systems for scheduling make it difficult for in-center management to create a reliable schedule -Year-round employees do not get any bonuses, only raises (on years that they decide to give employee reviews/raises), but raises are inconsistently given and when they are not it is not announced to employees (but the mailman gets a tip each year) -Push for employees to take on additional responsibilities without additional compensation -Very little help from management in the center for improvement of skills in working with students -Very pricey for students to attend so not all who could benefit from the specified learning processes developed by the company are able to -Company appears to care about each child but really just cares about turning a profit -Inconsistent mentoring of clinicians to ensure top-notch quality of instruction
