Pros

The work is rewarding and the programs, Seeing Stars in particular, really work.

Cons

The cost of instruction is so exorbitantly high, that it is not super accessible to families who are not as well off financially. Additionally, the pay clinicians make for providing the instruction is very low compared to what the client is paying.

One factor influencing cost is our team-based instructional model—while clinicians work one-to-one with students, additional team members support each student through assessment, lesson planning, progress monitoring, instructional oversight, and communication with families. This model is designed to support high-quality, individualized instruction and meaningful student progress. Pros

A structured, professional work environment. You and your coworkers are vetted and approved with actual rigor.

Cons

Lack of upward mobility, raises, and incentives for professional growth. Additionally, staff are trained in behavioral-cognitive programs for teaching that have no basis in peer-review science. The only scientific study on the effectiveness of these programs that exists says that results are similar to other more affordable programs, all of which are better than no treatment at all. All other studies on the programs’ efficacy were authored and run by the founders Pat Lindamood and Nancy Bell. Nancy Bell is the current CEO. The programs cost families as much as a mortgage payment every few months. They have massive incentive to be seen as legitimate, but families are better off finding an ABA-based study program.
