Awful Company

Business Outlook

Pros

There aren't any pros. This company is the lowest of lows in education.

Cons

As a former employee, the treatment of its employees are despicable. Directors and regional managers are threatened by capable, intelligent employees and purposely hinder career advancement. They also grossly lie to EDD. I've fought them in court and won which resulted in EDD benefits and restoration of reputation. A class action lawsuit was also won in regard to this company illegally withholding breaks from its employees. As far as clients, they overcharge and gear towards rich, privileged clientele. LBLP will also constantly advise returning to the same redundant reading program, taking gross advantage of their clients. They suggest the same programs - Seeing Stars & Visualizing and Verbalizing - to every single potential client. Test scores and results aren't what they seem. These are facts. Stay away from this place - as an employee & potential client.

While we appreciate constructive feedback, this post contains false and misleading information. For example, it is not true that anyone prevailed in court against Lindamood-Bell on the theory that our company illegally withheld breaks. In addition, we service clients of all socio-economic statuses, not just “rich” or “privileged clients.” We teach individuals of all ages and abilities to read and comprehend to their potential. Everyone is wildly underpaid!

Recommend

Business Outlook

Pros

- The support of everyone at the center (not corporate) and this is why I have stayed as long as I have - The programs being taught work (see caveat below)

Cons

- Everything else! - The programs being taught work, but you are made to believe you are "changing lives" and you can see the students making marked improvements, but the amount the programs cost is INSANE especially with how much employees actually make. Really we are only "changing lives" of the wealthy, or exploiting the ones that aren't and have to spend their life savings on it. It's one thing for clinicians to be paid what they make if it's a nonprofit or we are servicing low income students and making it widely accessible to them but that's not the case. - The trainings show ideal case instruction with students, but 95% of the time the students' behavior is not ideal. Also, we work with really severe students but aren't certified (or get paid training to be certified) so we get all this experience of working with these students but no certification to show for it when we find other jobs this would be beneficial for. - High turn-around rate and frequently understaffed because of above mentioned issues.

Workers are Lowest Priority

Business Outlook

Pros

Working with the kids can be fun. Program does seen effective.

Cons

Workers are clearly the lowest priority for the company. Not only is pay insultingly low for the rates the company charges per hour, they also have a wanton disregard for employee safety and well-being. There were 3 Covid exposures in my center in as many weeks and employee concerns were completely disregarded. Employees were encouraged to contact HR, but I can only assume any emails they received were quickly disposed of. It's obvious the company is more concerned with marketing to rich parents, making the company more an educational daycare center for the wealthy than anything else. Probably the best indication of how employees are treated is the high turnover. The company struggles to keep employees past a couple months and has been forced to begin an "incentives" program for clinicians to bamboozle their friends into working there. I believe clinicians were offered $200 for any person they recommended who stayed with the company for just 3 months. That should tell you all you need to know.
