Pros

The kids are amazing and it's really rewarding to see them learn and grow. It would be a perfect job for a student due to flexible hours and a decent summer schedule. Plus, it's more than you'd make at a typical summer job in college. Coworkers are usually great as well.

Cons

Where do I begin? This company bases its entire business model off of Disney, a corporation notorious for overcharging tired parents and treating its employees like garbage. As another review said, promotions are based on favoritism rather than merit. There is only one career track so if you aren't your CD's favorite, you're stuck where you are forever. Pay is good for a part-time job in theory but you do not get paid nearly enough for the work you are doing and it's infuriating based on how much money they make off of you. All-in-all, get ready to feel unappreciated and sad.

Pros

- I enjoyed working with the kids, you can see their improvement over the course of a few weeks so it's rewarding - Every day (and every hour) is different, so it keeps things interesting - Coworkers were friendly - Work is extremely seasonal, so it was the perfect summer / winter break job when I was in college

Cons

- Company charges more than $110/hour to the families but only pays $17/hour - They refused to give me a raise even after working there for 4 summers - Lots of employee turnover because they don't pay enough for how hard everyone works - Very strict about how to teach according to their established curriculum - no innovation - Very strict about schedule - everything is down to the minute, not flexible about sick days or time off - A lot of pressure to produce results (improve kids' scores) because parents are paying $$$$

Pros

The kids are great and you can have a lot of fun on the job. Get to be super creative when working with the clients. Seeing the progress a client can make over the course of 4 weeks is incredible! You build a really strong bond with them. It's a good summer job where you can make a lot of money.

Cons

Some of these clients have really poor distress tolerance and can be really impulsive, which can be exhausting and management does not help. There were days when I cried on the job because I felt so helpless. There's so much pressure to get through all of the material in the short period of time with a client who does nothing except cry, scream, and be destructive. I knew it was time for me to quit when I was having nightmares every night about my job. I still have nightmares to this day...
