Pros
Friendly, positive environment. The programs work, and seeing kids make progress is very rewarding. Clean, organized, easy to find way around the bureaucracy.
Cons
Super fast learning curve: many times I was teaching a program or subject for the first time after completing a video conference training, without any supervision or help. I was strongly led to believe the work would be full-time, and after being hired, found the work was more like 10 hrs a MONTH, except during school vacations, where the work was closer to 30 hrs a week. The amount of attention to the program and to each student is large, and deserves a much higher hourly rate. The constant switching of students with teachers is disorienting for the students and for the teachers. Favoritism exists, staff who are well liked or have been there longer get more input in scheduling, more hours.
