Pros

You can pick your work schedule to certain extend one day here or there. If you go on vacation for one month, when you return you will get very little work initially especially if they have enough interpreters.

Cons

Lionbridge has always been a snail in paying. At first when they were not computerized it took between 40 to 55 days to get paid. Now that they are computerized the first year some interpreters were getting work 3/4 time on steady basis and got paid within 30 days. As of August, 2011 they changed their form of payment by deducting 5% of the earnings if an interpreter wanted to get on a Net-15 contract -- meaning one would get paid every 15 days. The other form of payment is after 45 days. In reality they are not paying every 45 days but between 47 to 52 days. Lionbridge finance department is managed with delaying tactics. There is no communication with management at all, except the coordinator of the region. Lionbridge does not believe in seniority among the few interpreters that have stayed and they keep hiring new interpreters. The rate when an interpreter starts is $25 and an interpreter can get an increment of one or two increments of $5.00. Any interpreter that receives an additional increment does not get as much work only the ones that get $25.00. Parking was reimbursed but that perk was taken away. All in all it is not a good company to freelance for.

Pros

A paycheck. You may luck out and have some normal colleagues who make the experience of this place a bit more tolerable.

Cons

Not sure what the deal is with Lionbridge management.. Are they miserable and bitter before working here or does this place make them that way? The Management style.. make their employees feel stupid whether berating them in group emails or meetings. Innovation from employees..hah, you will keep your mouth shut if you have any ideas and sit around rotting waiting for your task; basically assuming the role of a button-pushing monkey. The only way to succeed here is to be an incredible bumkisser. You make one mistake or come up with a better idea than your manager and you're ripped to shreds. This place is good at one thing, making a mess out of honest, hard working, intelligent decent peoples professional and personal lives. A pay raise...HAH! Not one for years for the worker bees but it's fine for senior\middle management to reward themselves with fat raises\bonus\stock options while CEO sends out company-wide emails crying about 'belt tightening, 'trying times' This is a facade of a company which live day by day praying the next product will be the 'great one'. Prospective employees, read the other reviews and decide whether you want to subject yourself to this - trust me, you deserve better. I may sound bitter because I AM, It will take a long time to erase this place from my memories.

Pros

Lionbridge gets contracts. They provide testing services to many companies: HP, Belkin, Palm, and many others. They are always hiring.

Cons

Lionbridge gets contracts because they can undercut the competition. They can do this because they pay their employees next to nothing. Test engineers are paid very little, and, since most of them are flex employees (no benefits, no job security), they simply lay off a few when their margins need to look good. Career employees aren't treated any better. Lionbridge is one of those companies that thinks that "salary" means "we can screw you over any way we want and you have to take it". Simply, Lionbridge thinks of their employees as nothing more than commodities. Added to this wonderful corporate attitude is the quality of Lionbridge management. Most managers have little managerial training and take their cues from the other, poorly trained managers.
