Pros

Good benefits, national expertise available at the local level

Cons

If you work in a local office, your experience from one office to the next and vary tremendously. So much depends on the style of the local executie director.

Pros

With the shift in leadership it appears to be moving in a collaborative direction. The work is essential and important.

Cons

Lack of dedicated staff and funds to invest in internal staff development; One way feedback loop in most departments; changes in HR leadership; limited management accountability for growth within; needs to improve its diversity retention strategy; LISC needs to shake off the culture of stagnation and some managers aren’t leading and need training or to seek opportunities elsewhere

Pros

LISC hires intelligent, dedicated people who are driven by their mission of developing sustainable communities. LISC is a leader in the community development field, and its work is visible everywhere. The work environment is excellent, and there's an ideal work-life balance for most people.

Cons

Some of the processes are out-dated or bureaucratic. The community development field had changed significantly in many of LISC's markets, and we're now competing with other lenders and service providers who previously were not in the field. LISC's way of doing business has not kept up with the changes, and is frequently not competitive.
