Pros

Great experience! Learned a lot about community development and I am now interested in a career in the field. Worked in a great office with wonderful people who supported each other. Learned a great deal of the nonprofit sector and about local needs and challenges. Paid internship.

Cons

Bureaucratic. Difficult to advance. Was promised a position and when the time came, it was clear there would not be room for me. Also, consulting firms increasingly took over our office which made it difficult for anyone to do their job.
