Pros

* Loom has an environment that encourages high impact work that aligns with your own career and life. * Everyone at work thrives to be better coworkers and people. * Assuming positive intent of one another has really helped the company drill down to what's important * Unlimited PTO and an understanding that people need breaks, physical and mental to perform their best

Cons

* While feedback is treated as a gift, it can take a while for it to be delivered at times * No 360 review structure in place currently (April, '19)

Hello! This is Vinay (co-founder and head of engineering). I really appreciate the candid feedback on both the pros and cons. The unlimited PTO thing is especially nice to hear, because, truthfully, I am always concerned that unlimited PTO leads to people not actually taking the time off they need. As for the feedback taking a while to be delivered, I would love to understand how you may change that. Currently we employ yearly reviews, but I personally am not a big fan of them. Would moving to 6-month reviews work better? Where else would you like to see feedback be delivered in a systemized way? My thinking is that some people are more comfortable with delivering feedback than others, so we really need to make sure there are processes that allow folks to deliver feedback (sometimes anonymously - as you're saying with 360 degree reviews). Would love to hear your thoughts and will wait for a reply back! Vinay

Pros

-There is an AMAZING product sitting at the core of our biz. I've never seen such product market fit and intense user love -The leadership team was extremely responsive to macro and the changing environment, and I'm really grateful that they made a lot of critical and tough business decisions early that have positioned Loom to compete in the market for the long haul -I've never worked on an enterprise product with such great product market fit. Users are passionate about the product and I truly think there is a huge market potential for Loom -Strong performers are recognized and rewarded

Cons

-There are colleagues who are not comfortable with the frequent change and adaptability that come with being at a startup. Think the leadership team still needs to figure out how to motivate these individuals so they are ok with the quick-moving nature

Pros

I loved this position and who I worked for - I worked remote but still felt like a real part of the team. We were still small and new, but made every effort to make me feel welcomed. One time Vinay (CTO) even helped me with my homework being that I was still finishing my degree. Joe (CEO) was also easy to work with. Super down to earth - if I ever messed up he didn't get upset, he just always wanted to know my thought process. As a self-starter, that is a big relief. As long as I was making thoughtful decisions, it was considered an accident or a lack of knowledge that led to the error - not negligence. In a remote setting it's key to have trust between boss/employee and I'm grateful to have had that.

Cons

There is always something to be working on - and at a start-up a lot of times superiors are busy. I had to be diligent/patient when looking for answers and be ready to move onto the next thing and circle back to finish something. I like this kind of fast paced environment, but you need to be able to juggle.
