Pros

I did enjoy the job hours and a lot of my coworkers. If you love geriatric work, this is great experience. Out of a lot of the nursing homes in Maryland, Lorien really is a reputable one.

Cons

The lack of discipline respect from administrative and corporate levels- often asked to do tasks that are outside of the job description with no respect to the expertise and experience you've gained/have. It's a family business so there are a lot of unprofessional behaviors and handlings by administration and corporate that go unaddressed. They do not pay for the value of an employee's credentials/licensing.

Pros

From day one, it was evident that Lorien valued its employees' professional development and contributions to the company. Lorien's commitment to creating a positive work environment was reflected in day-to-day interactions with staff, with ample opportunities for training, mentorship, and advancement. During the peak of a worldwide pandemic, Lorien continued to offer employment opportunities to good hearted people who want to help care for our most vulnerable population. Even after the height of the pandemic, Lorien offered tuition reimbursement and GNA tuition paid in FULL, to see their employees grow within their role with the company. From corporate meetings, to 1:1 with NHA and DON, I always felt heard and supported in my role, allowing me to thrive and contribute meaningfully to the team's objectives. Beyond work, Suzanne and her team also promoted and encouraged work-life balance, understanding that happy and fulfilled employees have greater job satisfaction and thus, happy and thriving residents. Flexible work arrangements, comprehensive benefits packages, team building activities, holiday meal hand-outs, and whole body wellness programs are a few examples of how they continually supported their staff in every aspect of their lives. My time with Lorien was nothing short of exceptional. I am grateful for the opportunities for growth, the supportive work culture, and the meaningful relationships I built along the way. If I hadn't moved out of the area, I would have stayed for a lifetime.

Cons

A tad outdated decor but still pretty!
