Wonderful people but iffy future

Pros

The PEOPLE are wonderful! I love the people I work with. We do hire some really great people even though we no longer hire in the US. A lot of people from Mexico and LATAM, but they are great too. People are supportive of each other. There are a few times when the workload becomes crunched but overall the WL balance is good. The play things and kits are great and it feels good to be working on something like that.

Cons

There have been two layoffs this year so far and everyone is on edge about the future of the company. I'm not sure there are many people who are not looking for another job. It is stressful. We used to have these awesome people who were inspiring but they are gone now. I hope that we turn a corner this year. We have not had raises in a while. But the economy is not great so it makes sense. Just not great.

Pros

I had the privilege of working with truly wonderful people, talented, passionate, and dedicated. The products are genuinely outstanding, and it feels good to work for something I truly believe in. It’s just heartbreaking to see how little the company values the very people who make it all possible.

Cons

The company has undergone constant rounds of layoffs, despite repeated assurances from leadership that there would be no more. This has created a pervasive sense of fear and instability across teams, where people never truly feel secure in their roles, regardless of performance, dedication, or tenure. There are no real opportunities for career growth or advancement, leaving employees feeling stuck, demotivated, and undervalued, even after years of hard work and loyalty. Furthermore, pay increases are virtually nonexistent, even for those who consistently receive glowing performance reviews and exceed expectations. The benefits offered are extremely limited and continue to diminish over time. Even small but meaningful gestures, such as a gifting budget or simple tokens of appreciation, have been quietly taken away, reinforcing the growing perception that employees are no longer seen as people but as expendable resources. Perhaps most shockingly, there is a complete lack of respect and empathy for employees on maternity leave, with several team members being laid off during their leave. This is not only insensitive and short-sighted, but it also goes against basic principles of decency and care, especially coming from a company that creates products for children and families. All of this has led to a widening gap between the values the company claims to uphold and the reality of how employees are treated on a daily basis. To make matters worse, there is no trust in the HR department, which has repeatedly proven unable to handle even the most basic inquiries with professionalism or efficiency, let alone complex or sensitive issues. On top of that, there is a widespread belief that nothing within the company is truly anonymous, leaving people feeling exposed, unheard, and powerless to raise concerns safely.
