Pros

I find it depends on your situation, but Lowes has been a very caring a nd understanding employeer. Some members of management are not helpfull but most have a genuine interest in you as a person. They have a great 401 and stock program (Retire Rich). After 3 plus years at my location, It feals like an extended family. I also belive that the pay rate is very fair compaired to other big box retailers, and lowes remains very strong in this very bad economy. Our store seems to almost always promote from within and seems very loyal to its associates. Your fellow associates are from the local area, but are a very ecclectic group of individuals. Lowes associates make the job for me, I honesty can say I have many friends at work... rangeing in age from 18 to 75!

Cons

I really do not like the "corporate Schedule". I know its to be fair for everyone, but it would be nice if it was consistant. You will wind up working mornings than nights and then mornings a gain....all in a week or two. Zone managers get "stuck " in the managements of their zones and pull associates to their zone areas to finish tasks that they want done. This often leaves your area or worklist incomplete. This is not true of every ZM but their are a few out there!

Pros

They make every attemp to promote from withing the company, wether it be that store or another store in the area. The benifits are fairly good in comparison to other companies I have worked for.

Cons

Once they have you marked they will go out of their way to terminate you. As Loss Prevention I was asked on several occasions to watch employees via camera to time breaks and look for other minor violations to allow them a reason to terminate the employees. Yet if they liked you I was never asked to do so and if I did happen to see them do something others were written up or terminated for nothing happened to them.
