Pros

Good direction from corporate leadership, innovative thinking, and good benefits package. Lowes does try, at least at the corporate level, to provide a very safe and pleasant work environment. The workers they hire are mostly with the program which makes for less workplace tension.

Cons

Programs are in place to improve store ops and they are mostly good. Corporate needs to do better at ensuring store management properly implements them in a positive manner, and the Lowes philosophy needs to trickle from the top down. Some stores have very poor morale because of store management staff. At the district level they need to find a way to make sure all stores are fairly evaluating and promoting employees based on merit. Running great numbers, but having very poor people skills, begs the question; have much better could we be doing if our people were treated better.

Depends on area of business you would work in.

Pros

Variety of business areas and opportunities to pursue. Location and campus is beautiful. Management does listen and works (slowly) to improve the culture.

Cons

Really hard to define the culture with mix of new comers and old timers. Size and bureacracy, slow rate of change. Morale in the IT area is very poor and difficult place to work for many. Treat corporate versus hourly store employees same as for benefits which in other industries may not be competitive.
