Pros

Opportunity for team players and dependable workers, as well as for great leaders to promote. Great benefit program, including health, dental, vision, 401 K, etc. Extensive training available for all employees, including management staff and is ongoing. It is typically completed on-line and in some cases, with class room settings. Very people oriented and customer service intensive business if you enjoy same.

Cons

Holiday, nights and weekend hours...which is to be expected in this industry. Some high turnover of sales floor and cashier positions, as well as senior management (not all, but some) outside of the store can treat staff demeaning or even threatening, making for a difficult work environment.

Pros

The best thing about working for Lowes is the benefits. They off stock at a 15% discount for employees, 401K, they match 100% up the first 3%, 50% match up to 5% and 25% at 6%. They also offer dental, vision, and medical as well as many others.

Cons

The worst thing I have found in working for Lowes is the rate of pay for a college graduate with experience in the business. Just as any retail job, the hours can be hard, especially if you work until 11:00pm and have to be back at 5:00am the next morning. Sometimes manager favorites can be hard to deal with also.

New CEO Marvin Ellison is horrible.

Pros

Ability to commiserate with fellow employees about all the needless and heartless staffing changes in stores forced down by CEO.

Cons

Powerless to do job assigned work because assignments change moment to moment We routinely have more management than line employees doing the work. Customers are an AFTERTHOUGHT in our daily duties.
