Pros

Pay is higher than many in Retail, but Costco much better option. Can find some good relationships with customers if you are a responsible person.

Cons

Medical insurance is pricey, no support from Management to do your job or help train new employees. At Store in Winston, definitely have bad Manager. Central Quoting is a real mess. They require you to contact customers within 48-hours of details with pricing and both details are not returned by Regional Flooring Install partner and Central Quoting is always slow and leaving elements off of estimates thus making you have to comb through each estimate for ensuring missing items are sold. This slows process of response to 4-5 days and yet they hold you to responding in 48-hours. Impossible plus understaffing departments and store with no time to focus on Sales quotes.

Pros

They have benefits and the pay is actually amazing and very good for a cashier position. Started at $12/hr and went to $14 in less than a year. Managers are friendly, and relaxed about conversing with other cashiers. They make it clear what your goals are and meet with you to help you reach them.

Cons

Head cashiers are on their phones often, and seem to go through mood swings constantly. Head cashiers talk to cashiers about other cashiers behind their backs and its unprofessional. If you report something to HR about a manger, they investigate, but nothing ever happens except a slap on the wrist. The managers don't take illness seriously. And if someone calls out you hear them complaining that they think they are faking to other employees. I have been taken to the emergency room in the middle of my shift and I've heard afterwards that they thought I was being dramatic.

Pros

I met good people on the floor. I will say, during the pandemic, There were monthly bonuses for hourly employees. While management was given an extra two weeks in paid vacation.

Cons

When trying to call the store, it's nearly impossible to reach a MOD. The phone just rings until it routes you back to customer service. Csa's are more likely to help with a problem than management. I was hoping to be trained by my manager, but I was left with a grumpy old man who was supposed to be a mentor, but didn't teach me anything about the department. They pads over the good employees for supervisor positions for people who know nothing about the department. If you're good at your job, expect to be treated like crap. Not only are there long hours, but you'll sometimes work ten straight days, and they'll give you only one day to recover from that.and management wonders why you're . so tired. They wonder why people get burnt out and call in. You'll be assigned a task, and before you get to finish, you'll be pulled to a different task, then get yelled at because the first one wasn't finished when you got pulled for the next. It's kind of hard to complete a task if you're one person working three different departments attending to customers. I could go on, but I think I've made my point.
