      Good Company. Suffering Culture.

      Pros

      Lucid hires the best of the best. They've been able to attract talent that is innovative, hard-working, and generally fun to work with. They've mastered the art of marketing themselves as the "fun" start-up and utilize those perks to their advantage during salary negotiations knowing that prospects will take the pay cut for opportunity to work at a company that offers great culture and top-notch people. The quick list: Stocked kitchen (most of the time) Beautiful office and fun space 401k match Great benefits

      Cons

      As with many companies that are growing quickly, their hiring criteria isn't as stringent as it used to be. They're experiencing large turn-over of employees who have been there for 2+ years and the management they've brought in has brought a more staunch and conservative culture to the once thriving and innovative teams. Lucid is not a start-up anymore. With 500+ employees and counting, you're not going to experience the culture that once was at Lucid. If you're looking for a cool, quick-paced, innovative and flexible environment you've missed the boat here. The quick list: - Low pay (they say they use Radford averages, but I've gotten offers from other companies who also use Redford averages and the offers are 20% higher) - Growing so quickly employees get lost in the shuffle (no raises/promotions unless you say you've got another offer) - Not as flexible or innovative as the start-up it once was - High turn-over

      Appreciate your feedback. We want our employees to feel valued and respected and we take great measure to ensure we competitively compensate employees for their hard work. That includes those great benefits, equity and other pros you list, but it also includes constantly evaluating the industry to make sure our compensation, along with culture and product, are reasons why people are excited to join and grow with our company. I'm sorry this was your experience, but I'm glad to report that 95% of our employees say that Lucid is a great place to work.

      Great pay & opportunity to learn, but stressful environment

      Pros

      -pay is very competitive -promotions are quick for those who go beyond -amazing learning opportunities from very smart people -management genuinely cares about career growth of employees

      Cons

      -management is obsessed with meeting sprint requirements, even when they made mistakes in estimating difficulty -the burden of their mistakes falls on the engineers, making for many stressful late nights & weekends trying to meet these arbitrary deadlines to avoid being fired or put on a “performance improvement plan”

One of our core values is individual empowerment, initiative and ownership and we strive to empower employees and scrum teams to estimate the time required to complete their projects, as opposed to managers setting arbitrary deadlines without context. If employees ever feel like these expectations are unrealistic, we encourage them to speak with their manager or director to re-evaluate. -Kat

      Fantastic Place to Work

      Pros

      Rock solid executive team. They are very smart, driven, and kind. They genuinely care about their employees. Employees are treated with respect and trust. Co-workers are also smart and hard working. Work/Life balance is great. Yearly retreats and hackathons. Catered lunches twice a week. Great product that our users love. Fast growth and energy.

      Cons

      There are no slides and the snacks are generally healthy.
