Pros

co-workers are always willing to lend a hand and help out.

Cons

The work environment is far from conducive to productivity or collaboration. Instead of fostering teamwork, there's a pervasive culture of finger-pointing and blame-shifting. Rather than working together to solve problems, colleagues seem more focused on deflecting responsibility onto others. Innovation, a cornerstone of success in the tech industry, is sorely lacking. The company seems to be falling behind its competitors, unable to keep pace with the rapidly evolving landscape of technology. This stagnation stifles creativity and leaves little room for professional growth or excitement about the projects we're working on. Compounding these issues is the matter of compensation and workload. Despite the demanding nature of our roles, we're not adequately compensated for our efforts. Moreover, the workload is unmanageable, leaving us feeling overworked and undervalued.

Poor management and vague expectations

Pros

The benefits are still good at Lucid, even after the layoff and the reduction of benefits. The health plan is very reasonably priced and the coverage is good. The people you work with are generally amazing people. You get to actually stretch your creative brain and work on some very interesting, exciting, stimulating projects.

Cons

The review requirements at mid year and end of year are too vague to hold anyone to any standard beyond the entirely subjective opinion of your manager. It does not matter what your scrum team thinks of you if you are doing a good job and completing work on time and to an acceptable degree. It only matters what your manager considers. It is dependant on how well you are able to brag about yourself (which I understand is the plight of many companies). They also do not care if you are meeting expectations. If you are meeting expectations, be prepared to be put on a performance improvement plan. They expect you to work above your pay grade consistently. If you do not regularly get a promotion, expect to be put on a PIP. If you burn out, expect to be put on a PIP when you pull back on responsibilities in order to recover (even at the encouragement of management). As much as they boast about caring about your mental health, they only care as long as they don't have to actually care about it. I realize this review may seem bitter. Please know that I would still recommend this company over any I've worked at previously. The right manager will make your experience here magical. The wrong one will ruin your life and blame you for it.
