Pros

The people you work with day to day try really hard to service the customer and do the right thing

Cons

Constant reorganization led by outside consultants No one listens to front line employees Leadership is completely absent and unaccountable for any decisions made No one has gotten a pay increase since the merger No promotion opportunities or even a path to promotion offered Sales quotas are largely unattainable So many systems and products and legacy processes that are undocumented take up most of the time that should be spent with customers What used to be a technical customer facing job has turned into a secretarial one troubleshooting orders, finding inventories and putting out fires Most new products are still driven by spreadsheets because the company won’t invest in systems

Pros

I have learned so much at CTL. So many problems to solve and most of the individual contributors are willing to help out. The benefits are ok. Decent health benefits and decent 401k match. FTO (Flexible Time Off) policy is decent, if you're not guilt tripped or bullied into working more and never taking your days off. Remote work is possible. I got to work remote a lot of the time and in different positions. Peers are usually very smart and hard working. This is a great place to learn about coorporate politics and learn what you don't want in a company.

Cons

ah,... so many to share.... first off, after the merger with Level 3, the culture has reached a point that so many people have been overlooked for promotions or have been bullied into submission. Many people have tried to do the right thing but only to be shunned by leaders that believe they are the end all, be all of the company which has led to a ton of "cost cutting" and overworking of employees. Narcissism and toxic people are at the helm of this sinking ship which in turns creates mid mgmt to be "people pleasers". which in turns allows for bullying and whatever necessary means to pull people inline. If you have ethics and an integrity.... you will be pushed out or you will end up just hearing a story about how someone sucks because that is the narrative they want you to hear. When leaders don't allow for transparency and control the narrative, you should run because one day, the marrative will turn on you. You can only conform for so long before it gets to you.

Pros

I get paid well and my job is never boring. I like the work because it's challenging and my coworkers are great.

Cons

The company culture has taken a nose dive since the Level 3 acquisition. Things are wildly unstable with layoffs secretly occurring every few months. Constant re-orgs make it difficult to get anything done because you have a new manager or even a whole new team every few months as well. Leadership provides little to no direction on what our strategy is, so you don't know whether your work product will even be used in the long run. Leadership is deliberately vague as to what is happening behind the scenes and why, which leads to a lot of distrust. Employees live in fear of being laid off on any given Friday, which was apparently always the case with Level 3, so much so that they called them "Black Fridays." Steer clear if you like a stable work environment.
