Pros

Pay is consistent. Salary plus annual bonus is average.

Cons

Health Care is mediocre and too expensive for the services provided. Pay raise and Cost of Living increase are non existent. If you do not work in a metro area, support will never come.

Pros

Easy to blend into the company and disappear.

Cons

The IT department at Lumen lacks diversity. When I worked at Lumen as a software developer, my lead, my manager, my director, and my VP were not Americans. Almost all of my peers were not American either. A few months after I left, the American CIO was replaced with a CIO who is not American. I would be happy if many nationalities were represented. But only one nationality is crowding out all other nationalities, including Americans. Bless their hearts, these folks put up with subhuman working conditions. Long hours. Early mornings. Late nights. No documentation. Lack of tools. Tremendous management hypocrisy - pretending to care about employees when they don't care..

Pros

Company has moved to mostly remote work for most positions.

Cons

Performance evaluations are terrible. This is setup where one one individual per organization can ever rank anything other than Meets Expectations. This of course directly impacts any ability to get a raise when organizations are spanning 1k+ employees. Bonuses are not guaranteed, you can go several years without getting one. They never reevaluate salaries for employees to ensure they are staying competitive with the market, whatever salary you get hired in at is likely going to remain the same with maybe a 1-5% increase over a span of 10-15 years. Cost of living adjustments are not given. To increase your salary you either need to quit the company and come back after 6 months to a year, or transfer to a new position. However, if you transfer to a new position, do not expect a large bump in pay as HR will cap how much your salary can increase no matter the position, unless its executive level position, at roughly 3% max increase. Many benefits have been taken away. Vacation time is not a guarantee any longer, its all at manager discretion and your manager can approve very little vacation time, or approve a lot of vacation time.
