      Compensation Philosophy is Garbage

      Pros

      Generous paid time off policy, insurance is available (good or not is a matter of perspective), paid holidays, some great peers.

      Cons

      CEO "doesn't believe in paying for what's not earned" so basically yearly merits were eliminated and some have not had a raise in 4+ years but are continually asked to do more. You are expected and told to do more than your job and MAYBE you will get a raise some day. They restructure pay and their existing employees end up making less than the minimum salary with the company making no effort to rectify. Did I mention they basically reduce force at least once a quarter? If you want stability don't work for Lumen.

      Pros

      Good people, and a relatively good culture. Social values are progressive yet compassionate for all points of view. Values DEI highly.

      Cons

      Lumen employees are at least 1 title level below others doing the same work in other companies. Therefore, nearly everyone is underpaid. Additionally, their "pay for performance" system is really a "pay for promotion" system, and promotions are tough to come by. Team managers spend all their energy advocating for raises for people well below market, so people only moderately below market don't get increases unless they move to different positions.

      Pros

      This is a stable company, that is shrinking. They are okay about having periodic reviews. And flex time off is ok- though I’m allowed less time off new than I was before flex time

      Cons

      Annual pay raises are anemic, and bonuses are arbitrarily ripped down for reasons that can’t be explained. There is no connection between performance and pay. If Lumen need capital, they’ll short fund the bonus pool and take what they need from employees incentive pay
