Pros

As I write this, we are smack in the middle of the COVID-19 situation, which has made me realize how much I appreciate working for Lumentum. In my opinion, the company has done and excellent job managing through this. It has taken great care of it's employees (whether they are able to work or must shelter in place for health needs or family care) and local communities while doing it's best to meet our customers needs. Dealing with a pandemic is not a "typical" business issue, but I am grateful for how they are handling this HUGE curve-ball. This can be a busy, crazy place to work, but these past few weeks have reinforced my belief Lumenum does care about it's employees. Thank you!

Cons

Like I said above, the workload can be a little crazy, but for me it's been managable and I believe not unlike any other company here in Silicon Valley.

Pros

Excellent pay, espp, stock grants

Cons

Appalling management, bullying from overbearing project managers, cronyism to such an extent that leadership roles were doled out based on how much one sociopathic senior manager liked you. A friend of mine went out to lunch with this sociopath. Every Thursday. They were buds. One Thursday afternoon we noticed my friend was gone from the company. It turns out my friend said something that the sociopath did not like so he fired him at lunch. The sociopath is still making all hiring and promotion decisions. Every experienced engineer has left. The result was that products were being made that would be an embarrassment to an elementary school shop class.
