Pros

Best-in-class technology: Technology is orders of magnitude better than competitors. Luminar's LiDAR hits all the wish list items for the automotive industry Exciting time for automotive technology: Great interest from all the major players. Automotive industry is jumping head first into autonomous technology and many players are banking their efforts off our LiDAR. Experienced team: Very deep industry expertise with LiDAR. Luminar is hyper focused on continuing building out the team with A+ talent from a variety of industries Continued growth: This is only the start for Luminar. Rapidly building out the team to support customers and continue marketplace dominance

Cons

LiDAR industry is "smoke and mirrors" -- Always have to call out bogus statements from competitors Heavy workload and tight timelines, but at least I feel like I'm working towards something that really matters

Pros

Free food. Some smart people. High tech. Interesting problems in the space.

Cons

The company culture feels very secretive and uncollaborative. Speaking to other departments except via official channels is frowned upon. Poor opportunity for career advancement internally. Quite a few high performers have gotten upset about not having opportunity for promotion. In case you do join, get your position clarified first and make sure you're happy with it! Some rude people here. A little bit of professionalism would go a long way! The worst: Fighting and yelling common at the C-level and VP-level. Really unenjoyable environment to be in. "Internal politics gone crazy" comment in another review is true in a quite a few ways! Perhaps those giving high reviews of the company probably are not exposed to this.
