Pros

You can have a variety of work experiences, but be prepared that most of them might end up being by the hard way. You will have more than enough to do and you won't be bored. It's not a bad place to work if you have no alternatives.

Cons

The company hasn't been the same since Basell came into the picture. The company used to be a fun place to work and very team oriented. Now it seems that they do everything they can to screw the employee to help line the pockets of the major shareholders. All decisions that are made are done on a business case with no concern to the employee. Staffing levels seem to be at a minimum or below level and management does not seem to be concerned. They seem to believe that highly experienced and talented employees can simply be replaced by co-ops, summer interns, and new hires. Mid-level management seems to be running scared and simply do what their superiors tell them. Instead of building a progressive company, it seems that they have regressed back to the "because I said so" management style of the 50s.

Pros

Many of the remaining people are experienced, hard workers although motivation towards the company as a whole leaves a lot to be desired.

Cons

As with many failing companies we are seeing today, there is no thought process into why the people are lacking motivation or people are leaving. It is preferred that we simply allow experienced personnel, who have had trememdous success and given a lot of their lifetime to the company to simply leave and be replaced. loyalty should work both ways but that is something that is not understood by the new management.

Pros

I have a job that supports my family and pays the bills. I have health insurance and a 401K plan.

Cons

All of the departments at headquarters are under staffed and over worked. You are given more work than you can possibly do. This leads to employees making mistakes and costing the company money and squashing moral. Everyone at headquarters only motivation is to make sure that every goal they have defined at the beginning of the year is met, regardless of what it takes to do so. That’s because their year-end bonus depends on how many of their goals were met. That means management is quick to point fingers when their goals are not met and the worker bees become their victims. The only people the company hires are college graduates with MBA’s. They pay them a minimum entry level salary based on the chemical industry average. For the most part, they stay for a year or two and then leave for greener pastures.
