Pros

-Good pay for the area - normally only work 4 days a week - decent 401k match and a pension - bonuses are a nice touch for a blue collar job - loads of different technologies and machinery to learn and gain experience from.

Cons

-The HR Dept is a joke. They let you know your start date with little to no notice for current employment. I was given less than a 5 day notice to start so I was unable to give my old employer a proper 2 weeks notice. Multiple co-workers share similar experiences -Current maintenance manager operates a very lean shop and doesn't replace workers who retire, get fired or quit causing more work with less people -Company structure only allows a very select few techs to work turnarounds at other sites making lots of overtime and money while the other 90% of the shop never get the opportunity -very little accountability and making mistakes are hidden from management to protect the incompetent - for being a chemical company that produces plastic you'd figure LYB would be heavily invested in recycling but NO PLASTIC GETS RECYCLED! All the recycling bins at the end of the day end up being thrown in the regular trash dumpster

Pros

Work Life Balance - even before COVID had some flexibility on work schedule, including two days a month to work from home Short Term Incentive (Cash Bonus) - have received one every year Responsive Leadership - upper management is accessible and does seem to address staff's concerns (the latter mainly through annual survey)

Cons

Very Cost Conscious - tight with money for projects, which can make structural improvements a multi-year effort; only mid to senior leaders do any significant travel to visit suppliers or stakeholders
