Pros
-semi good pay (if you’re fresh out of school)...the reason I say semi is because yes the pay is nice for your pockets...but for what you’re doing and learning to take on on a day to day basis, it’s not worth it in my opinion. -insurance (vision, dental, and health) -PTO -“Challenging” Please at least skim below, it’s good in-depth information.
Cons
The cons definitely outweigh the pros in my opinion. If you’re looking for somewhere to just pocket your money and not enjoy..you can have it. -management -> trash Explanation: management is super knowledgeable, no doubt about it. But when it comes to managing people and leading a team (at least the tech support manager) there is a lack of professionalism, and leadership. There is a certain way to guide, approach, and lead people and for each category, if the scale was 1-10 that specific manager would get 0s across the board. The way that he speaks to his staff, and handles situations is toxic, irrational, and rude. When approached about it the response has been (multiple times) “that’s just how we do things here”. What a way to lead and manage your team. Keep it up. (And it’s not just him - to be fair - I’ve seen people get literally cursed out by other higher ups as well). It’s unprofessional, and demeaning. Note to the company: do better. -HR -> trash Explanation: There were various incidents where I could have gone to HR, and I would have if I were comfortable. But the same toxicity that management has..HR has unfortunately been contaminated as well, oh man :( When an incident takes places (no matter how big, or how small), and it is addressed by HR there is a level of confidentiality that has to be maintained. You don’t address an issue and then announce (especially to another department) what came of that conversation, or even that a conversation was had. And that’s exactly what was done. Again, lack of professionalism in my opinion. So I was never about to waste my time there. -environment /culture-> trash Explanation: My former coworkers here, awesome. I had a team that was willing to help with anything I had questions about. However, that was my team..a team of about 6 I believe. Being in the office overall felt like I was constantly in an episode of Gossip Girl. That’s all everyone ever did. Was gossip and whisper and then be buddy buddy with the person who was just their topic of discussion. People from other departments coming in and out, whispering in the managers ear, next thing you know you’re getting chewed out (not privately either) about something that you had no chance to explain. Side bar: They have a habit of hiring people who are under qualified (and then training them up) for the job just to pay them less than what they SHOULD be making based on what the positions entail, or hiring people fresh out of school who have had little to no experience. From my observation, those people have no clue that they deserve more money, and that there are healthier/better work environments available.
