Not Great Place

Pros

Ample parking, good commute, good work life balance and decent pay for rural Worcester county. Some autonomy if in the right group or team. Some teams have a fairly decent initial training program.

Cons

Poor technology, lack of communication, no recognition system and very few advancement opportunities above supervisor level. Some teams have zero training and the organization as a whole is very resistant to change. It seems many teams are too busy or disengaged and the care factor seems low in many areas.

Thank you for your review. Since you've worked at MAPFRE Insurance for several years and enjoy some nice perks of good pay, good commute, etc. - we hope that means you're willing to participate in the change you believe needs to happen. Change and growth are part of the company culture at the organizational as well as individual level, but it sounds like you haven't experienced that first-hand. Please take the opportunity to speak to your manager about any changes you'd like to see in your unit or in your work. Also, be sure to check for other open opportunities within the company.

Good Place to Work

Pros

Great location, away from all the hub-bub of a large city. Free parking. Most employees are friendly and management, for the most part, is competent and knowledgeable in the insurance industry. PTO days in lieu of vacation/sick days - this is great for individuals who do not call in sick because all that time can be used for planned time off.

Cons

There is a lot of favoritism - same individuals are pulled for committee's and projects because they are friends with higher ups, which isn't fair for others who want to advance their career and need these committee's/projects in order to do so. New rule installed since the take-over - no nepotism now. This company was built by a family and there is a lot of family which works here together, however, now new family members are not allowed to apply.

Thank you for your review! It sounds like you enjoy working here but still have some concerns. After the nepotism policy was introduced, it was an adjustment for all employees. However, not every family member is ineligible for hire and the policy might not be as restrictive as many may believe. Please consider calling HR to discuss the policy and how you might refer those who are eligible under the current policy.

Pros

Having been employed here for over 10 years, I have seen this company undergo a lot of changes. The one constant is the great benefits which we are offered, the generous time off and beginning to offer more flexible schedules

Cons

As with any company there are cons. The cons with MAPFRE are currently being worked on. I think that there needs to be more communication with management and that having more flexibility with schedules within all departments
