Pros

Good benefits such as PTO

Cons

Terrible management, cut throat environment, lack of trust in management. Cannot establish a trusting working relationship with peers. Everyone is disposable and employees have no value no matter how long they have worked there.

MAPFRE Insurance Response
10y
We’re sorry to hear you are unhappy in your experience working for MAPFRE Insurance. This is valuable feedback that we can use for planning future communications and activities to ensure all employees feel supported by their peers and managers and are given enough information to feel informed. We recently surveyed our employees about how to make MAPFRE Insurance a Great Place to Work and plan to do so again in the coming year. Many employee suggestions for improvement have been implemented and we’re looking forward to doing even more in the near future. We take our employee experiences seriously and want to do the best we can to make MAPFRE a great place to work.

Not a "Great Place To Work"

Pros

The front line employees make the company. They strive to get the work done day in and day out while Sr. Management in many departments struggle to get a clue.

Cons

Leadership has lost sight of what matters; people. Current state is to overburden the work force while we work to reorg over and over as we "become MAPFRE". The vast majority of leadership positions are filled externally and there's a total lack of understanding for the history and culture of processes. Change it is the attitude, no matter the impact to staff or the customer. Most changes have long term impacts on morale, which impacts the customer, but that goes overlooked. While the Great Place to Work survey is a focus in many business areas including HR, many Sr. leaders suffer from hypocritical tendencies. Do as I say, not as I do is what it boils down to. Providing honest feedback to leadership, even when it's solicited, is frowned upon and there are many apparent cases of good employees being black balled as a result.

Searching for new job as we speak

Pros

There is not it a whole lot to say here. Free coffee and milk provided. I'm counting my 20 words here...

Cons

Worst management ever! They rule with an iron fist and do nothing productive themselves. They sit and gossip in glass cubes all the while cutting down on your bathroom time. They talk all shift with their peers and God forbid you interrupt this ritual to ask a work related question. You will be met with much attitude and scoffed at. You will be asked if you tried to locate the answer yourself on Lotus Connections before approaching your supervisor... The reason you are met with such attitude is because supervisors have no idea what the correct answer is and don't want to be found out or bothered to work themselves. When on OT and the phones ringing off the hooks you will find your Supervisor along with other supervisors chatting away about their favorite beer or bar in their glass cubes.
