Disappointing

Pros

Dedicated people, interesting and important work.

Cons

Culture has some major shortcomings. Senior management all work in silos with blinders on. Support staff treated very differently than scientific staff, incredible culture of entitlement even though they claim they are a meritocracy. Career opportunities exist only for privileged few.

Although you are no longer at the Laboratory,it is pleasing to see that your experience was positive. We work hard to maintain positive work-life balance and try to accommodate the needs of individuals when possible. The opportunity to work with a concentration of committed, highly trained people is one of the big reasons that people cite for coming to work at Lincoln Laboratory. The focus on applied science and engineering is one of the strengths that we bring to providing solutions to our sponsors. While there are some necessary restrictions for security purposes, we do encourage staff to participate in professional societies and to publish in media that meet requirements. Although security considerations are a big part of life at the Laboratory, we are able to provide opportunity for active exchange of information and host a number of technology presentations annually.

Thanks for commenting. We work hard to be flexible and to accommodate employee needs. We are fortunate to be able to offer excellent time off policies that are often not found in industry. Laboratory and MIT policies clearly prohibit inappropriate yelling and demeaning behavior. I hope that you will contact me so that we can address your experience.
