Pros

MIT is a vibrant community. There is always a lot to learn. Depending on where you work, it is easy to find collaborators around the Institute to work with.

Cons

As with any university, there are politics. I try to avoid them -- but sometimes it is not possible to forget that faculty are 'king' and there is a feeding chain from there. This can be frustrating -- so best to understand in advance.

I worked at MIT part-time for two years (as a grad student) and full-time for a year. Some of the most compelling aspects of working at MIT 1. Constant learning: MIT have a very vibrant research scene and you get exposed to new ideas and research constantly 2. Great People: It can be great to collaborate with some of the smartest minds in the world

Cons

If you are in an entry-level position at MIT, the pay might not be comparable to industry trends, because it is easy to find cheap labor within MIT in the form grad and undergrad students
