Pros

The best thing about MIT is the people. Most of the people you work with are intelligent and genuinely good people. The campus has a lot of resources and you can seek knowledge a wide variety of fields.

Cons

Very challenging environment, often hard to attain a work-life balance. You need to be resilient and confident in your own achievements and avoid comparing yourself with others.

Excellent health insurance/treatment at MIT medical, many opportunities for collaboration, good support from the department, generally friendly staff

Cons

Institute-wide bureaucracy is really difficult to deal with, and the financial services office is not very helpful
