Pros

I work with students and am constantly challenged (in a good way) to learn more and do more. Very stimulating and overall excellent colleagues. Culture is a good fit from other top tier institution down the road - very down to earth. I am well-compensated for the work I do interfacing with students

Cons

No real career trajectory - have had the same title for 5+ years. Very political so you have to be able to "play the game," which is not always easy to do.

Pros

- Funding, especially for a masters program - Great location - Huge resources in terms of networking and money, you will be working with smart people that will be ending up in amazing positions across all disciplines, and MIT will pay for you to do most things if you learn how to use the system - I've found many people that break the stereotype of antisocial nerds, instead you get to go have a beer with smart people who will tell you why you should care about cyber security, climate change

Cons

- Very independent working environment - Advisors are VERY different, so experience is very defined by how well you choose an advisor. Advice would be to figure out what things you need to thrive and intentionally go find that in an advisor.
